Information about the Turkish Informatics Association (TBD)

Turkish Informatics Association (TBD) was established in 1971 just after the introduction of the informatics technologies in Turkey with the vision of ”Using the Technical Science of Informatics as a Tool for Development”. Nowadays, it strives to realise the transformation of our country into an enlightened and modern ”Informatics Community” through its members coming from every social segment.

TBD has made a significant contribution to the enhancement of the informatics sector in our country being well equipped with about 10.000 members, 6 branches, 13 provincial representatives and TBD Youth Organizations in 33 universities.

The reports, proposals and discourses of the Turkish Informatics Association produced in its structure based on individual participation and work style based on volunteering have gained appreciation by all the decision makers and all the segments of the society in our country nowadays.

The following work groups are operating within the body of TBD: Subsection for Terms, TBD Executives Association of the Public Data Processing Centre, Work Group of Informatics Law, Work Group of Social Activities, TBD Work Group of Software, Work Group of Informatics in MSE, Work Group of Visually Handicapped People and Informatics, Work Group of TBD Youth, Work Group of e-Games, Work Group of Health and Informatics, Work Group of Informatics Security, Jury of Science Fiction Stories and TBD Publications Counsel. TBD members are also actively engaged in the Professional Committees in the Turkish Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges (TOBB).

TDB is a pioneer non-governmental organization with its member structure comprised of effective users from public and private sectors, academic community and all other segments of the society.

The goals of our association from the very beginning of its foundation have been;

  • a Turkey that is able to produce technology,
  • a community that can use the technology to enhance life quality,
  • a government style which can use the resources of the state in an effective way,
  • a qualified human power,
  • giving its best to enable that every citizen in this beautiful country of ours can enjoy the life in the best way possible contributing to the realisation of a production sector that is able to compete on international level,
